Well, The day sure ended up being a lot better than we expected. On Friday evening the weather forecast went from bad to worse, calling for 4-6 foot seas and strong winds.Chris had some in-laws in from Illinois and Iowa and we were determined to at least wet a hook.So we took everything from Light tackle to heavy tackle on the boat and everything from cigar minnows to dead shrimp; just in case we couldn't even get past the jetties.
Originally, we had a full crew of 7 or 8 going, but with the forecast it was decided it may be a better decision for the younger kids to stay on shore for the day. We ended with Chris, Chad, Craig, Vikki, and Mark ( A die hard Fisherman from Iowa).Cleared the jetties at 7 AM and was meet with a very manageable 3-4 foot sea and by the end of the day it was 2-3 feet.Since there was no wind it was a very nice ride out.We could not find any pogies or live bait off shore. We ended up getting most our action a BR and ended up Catching a King, few dozen Beeliners, 1/2 dozen AJ's, several small under sized Red Snapper, and a few sneaker heads. No record breakers, but we did break off a couple freight trains. It was an action packed day, great for friends and family to go offshore.
Today was our first day to try the Shimano Butterfly Jigs...WOW.
