Started the day leaving Mayport just past 5:30am.  We had Casey & MikeG from the forum join us for a trip out to the Ledge(What great crew!!!).  Made it out to 145’ of water in less than ideal conditions and quickly set the spread out.  Scattered weeds were all around.  Got a strike about 45mins later on a naked ballyhoo.  Got him to the boat and into the ice chest then reset the spread.  Missed another fish on another naked ballyhoo rig.  After that hit, the fishing went dead.  Trolled on out to 750’ of water, but nothing was home.  Came back into 225-250’ of water and never left the area the rest of the day.  Finally started having some steady action about 2pm.  MikeG & Casey traded workouts w/ Dolphin and put 2 more in the box.  Craig was able to pitch a bait on a spinner to a smaller Mahi that was following one of the fish that Casey was hooked up to only to lose it beside the boat.  Went about 30mins without anymore action when we finally got the strike we were looking for.  Chad handed Casey the rod and he quickly put the pressure to a nice Bull Mahi.  Casey got him to the boat and Chad sunk a perfect gaff shot to him and brought him into the boat.  This fish is now a new Boat Record for largest Dolphin.  Had a couple more shots at fish and missed 2 of them, but was able to put 2 more in the boat to finish the day w/ 5 Dolphin.  Wasn’t a bad day, but the opportunities were there to make it a great day, but that’s fishing!
