We left the dock at 6:30 AM, with the day light savings time taking place the night before we were just lucky to be awake today. We put lines out in 71.5 degree water @ 135' most of the reports we got showed the fish were inside the ledge. We pulled High Speed lures for the first 2 hours with out a bump. We then switched over to bait and worked 2 temperature breaks in 260' feet and 160', neither produced a fish or even a strike. Most the reports on the VHF were slow, a few boats got on a decent bite but they were the exception.
We capped the day off with dropping some baits to the bottom in 180' feet with the Kristal Electric Reel, but the current was so strong we couldn’t stay on our spot long enough to feel the bite.
We pulled lines in at 3 PM and flew in at 38-39 knots and hit the ramp around 4:30. The fish didn't cooperate, but it was a beautiful day on the water with a nice gentle roll to the seas. As our Captain demonstrated perfectly in the only picture for the trip, even on the slow days it’s always fun and 'relaxing' on the ocean; whether you are catching fish or catching "Z's".
