We left Mayport ramp just before 6 AM, we had anticpated near flat conditions but were greated with annoying 3' foot sea that got built the closer we got to the ledge. We put the lines in at 140' and trolled towards the break. We got our first strike and our only wahoo in about 250' of water on Spanish Mackrel that Craig was putting down on the planer. The fish missed the hooks the first time, but Craig got him hooked up on a great drop back! Chris Burnett was on the boat and did a great job bringing the fish in to be gaffed. He went 46#'s on a certified scale. The bite was slow the rest of the day we only had 2 more solid strikes, but we pulled the hooks in both cases. We did some brief bottom fishing in 120' of water with nothing to show for it.
The fishing was extremely slow for everyone, but we had a great day on the water even though only 1 wahoo to show for it.
